The bats were OK, with 3 hitters drawing more than 100 walks. But the pitching! Regardless of their record, all five starters walked more than 100 and averaged about 5 BB's per 9. Besides that, the #4 and #5 starters only K'd 2 per 9. But they weren't the wildest staff in '49.
